Women of Holy Cross
The Women of Holy Cross (WoHC) is the LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League) society at Holy Cross. All ladies of the congregation are considered members of WoHC. Â The LWML, with a membership of over 250,000, is the official womenâs auxiliary of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Â For over 77 years the LWML has been encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to financially support global mission
The mission of the LWML:
The mission of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League is to assist each woman of The Lutheran ChurchâMissouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.
Â
WoHC provides many opportunities for service, Bible study, Christian fellowship, and to share our time and our talents.  Our activities include collecting Mites (see below), attending national and district conventions & retreats, local service projects, and creating and providing gifts for the needy.
The Lutheran Womenâs Quarterly is a publication that is available to WoHC.  It contains Bible studies, mission stories, and LWML happenings throughout the nation. Also included are articles on âFriends Into Serving Himâ which are geared to the 13 to 17 year old group.
Monthly LWML news is also published in the church newsletter.
Mite Explanation and History
Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke 21:1â4), the Mite Box is intended for regular contributions of "mites" â offerings above and beyond the support given to congregations and the LCMS. Mite Box contributions amount to millions of dollars that fund district and national mission grants and implement the LWML program.
